What personal data we collect and why we collect it


When visitors leave comments on the site we collect the data shown in the comments form, and also the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string to help spam detection.

An anonymized string created from your email address (also called a hash) may be provided to the Gravatar service to see if you are using it. The Gravatar service privacy policy is available here: After approval of your comment, your profile picture is visible to the public in the context of your comment.


All images are owned by Metal Minds Robotics Inc and permission to use should be sought from the Club.  No images maybe downloaded or used without permission

If you leave a comment on our site you may opt-in to save your name, email address and website in cookies. These are for your convenience so that you do not have to fill in your details again when you leave another comment. These cookies will last for one year.

If you have an account and you log in to this site, we will set a temporary cookie to determine if your browser accepts cookies. This cookie contains no personal data and is discarded when you close your browser.

When you log in, we will also set up several cookies to save your login information and your screen display choices. Login cookies last for two days, and screen options cookies last for a year. Who we share your data with

How long we retain your data

If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely. This is so we can recognize and approve any follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue.

For users that register on our website (if any), we also store the personal information they provide in their user profile.  Website administrators can also see and edit that information.

What rights you have over your data

You can also request that we erase any personal data we hold about you. This does not include any data we are obliged to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes.

Where we send your data

Visitor comments may be checked through an automated spam detection service.

Your contact information

Is stored with our admin only. If your child joins our club, then limited details are given to mentors for the safety of your child.

We do not pass your or your child’s details to any third parties except in the case of attending presentations and exhibitions where a name and date of birth may be required and when booking interstate and international accommodation, flights and applying for grants. Information given out in these cases is kept to a minimum.


Attending our workshops you will be asked to sign a declaration advising us that you are happy for any photos of the workshop with your child present an be used in our presentations, advertising, social media, website and any other areas we use to promote the club.  You can ask for your child to excluded from photographs at any time, but photographs already agreed too previously may not be able to be removed from previous advertising.

If you do not wish your child to be photographed at the workshops you can advise us when they start,  however, please note, by agreeing for your child to enter any of the competitions you are giving permission for them to be photographed in competition and their photograph can be used in all media about the competition has/when required.  Once you agree to your child taking part as a member of the Metal Minds Robotics Inc team into the FLL and FTC competitions you will be asked to sign a photography waiver form.  We have no control and take no responsibility for members of the public or other teams and their mentors taking photos during the competitions.
